Indiana's First Night Out

Last night was Indiana our Indian Eagle Owl's first night out, we have been putting her out in the days, but she has been sleeping in at night due to the freezing temperatures.

No matter how many birds we have and how many years we have been doing this, we still over protect our birds, I think its normal.

I went down early this morning to check on Indiana, of course she was fine, with a look on her face to say, 'Whats the Big Deal!!!!'.

Autumn & Africa

We now have a spare aviary for Africa our African Wood Owl (Pictured on the Left), it will be such a shame to split them up, they have been living together since they were both 4 weeks old.

Harris Hawks on 4 Eggs

Great news, Ellie our Female Harris Hawk is sat on 4 eggs as of this afternoon, I checked the camera this morning and there were still 3 eggs, by the time I did my rounds down with the birds, came back up, checked the camera, there it was the 4th egg.
For the past few years she has always laid 5, so I'm sure in the next day and a half she will lay the 5th and final egg.
Well done guys.

Pickle & Sahara

Here is Pickle (Tropical Screech Owl) & Sahara (White Faced Scops Owl) who are at the moment sharing a aviary, they spend all their time together.

Unfortunately we will have to split them up.

They look so lovely together I had to take a picture of them.

Our Harris Hawks Lay Another Egg

Just like clockwork, Ellie & Eros our Breeding Pair of Harris Hawks lay another egg, I presume it was late last night.

Watched on the camera this morning, its great seeing them work as a team, Ellie will sit tight on the eggs, Eros will then periodically move Ellie off the nest and so so gently turn the eggs.

Once again Ellie will lay another egg over the next 2 days.

Will add a photograph when Ellie and Eros allow.

Ellie & Eros Our Breeding Harris Hawks Lay First Egg

Ellie & Eros our breeding Harris Hawks have today laid their first egg.

Over the past week or so they have both contributed in building the nest (with a little help from me).

Late last night after returning home from North Wales we noticed Ellie was sat on the nest, today we checked on the camera and there it was, one beautiful white egg.

Over the next 2 days or so she will lay another and so on.

Last year she laid 5 eggs, so hopefully it will be the same this year.

Well done guys!!!!

New Arrival to Falconry UK

Yesterday we travelled to Flint in North Wales, to pick up our newest arrival of the team an Indian Eagle Owl (Bubo Bengalensis).

The Owl is un sexed, but we believe it to be a male, we have guessed like this in the past, sometimes you can be very very wrong.

So we decided to name it Indiana, Indy for short, this way the name is apt if its a male or a female.

We will keep you updated over the next few weeks of Indy's progress with us.
